1. Children
Children should not bring mobile phones to school unless it is necessary to have the phone to make contact with parents/guardians after school hours.
If parents/guardians must make contact with their children during school hours, they may do so on the school’s landline.
Where parents/guardians deem it necessary that their child requires a mobile phone for use after school, the following rules apply:

  • The phone must be kept in the child’s school bag during the school day.
  • The phone must not be taken to the yard or any other out of classroom activity eg. PE, Computers, nature walks, maths/geography/history trails etc.
  • The phone must be switched off at all times from 9.00am to 2.40pm.
  • The use of the phone ie. making calls, texting, taking photographs or accessing internet/email during school hours is totally prohibited.
  • Where a breach of the above rules occurs, the phone will be confiscated and parents/guardians will be asked to collect it from the school.
  • The school accepts no responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged mobile phones.

2. Staff Use of Mobile Phones
Use of mobile phones by teachers and other members of staff during class contact time with pupils is prohibited except in exceptional circumstances.
